Natural Healing, Balance & Relaxation

Foot Reflexology is a healing technique based on the principle of free and uninterrupted energy flow and helps activate the natural healing processes in each patient's body as well as to restore their physical and emotional well-being. As a certified Reflexologist, I help patients reduce their stress and anxiety, balance their energy, and assist with other health issues.

Many of us find ourselves on our feet all day. Whether you’re a stay at home mum, work in an office, a factory, outdoors, or anything in between, there is a good chance that you put a lot of weight and stress on your feet every day. For back pain, people often get massages, so it makes sense that there should also be foot massages too, right? Reflexology is much more than a foot massage, but at its basic level, that’s the best way to describe it.

Reflexology is an alternative therapy used to treat a wide variety of conditions and has been in use for thousands of years. The ancient Chinese and Egyptians have documented practices similar to reflexology as a treatment for certain illnesses.

Imagine that there is a connection between areas (called zones) of your feet that represent certain areas of your body, and the body can be rebalanced via these zones. A lot of the theory behind reflexology has to do with clearing and balancing your qi (or life energy), but even for those who normally don’t invest much in their health, there are plenty of scientific studies that have supported the claims of reflexologists.

It’s a complementary therapy that targets specific reflex points we all have on our feet (as well as lower legs, face, hands, and ears). By massaging and applying pressure on the feet, reflexologists can stimulate the central nervous system in quite precise ways. Specific points on the feet have been mapped to areas of the body, and the pressure applied to them sends signals to release tension to internal organs and/or specific muscles. As we treat the whole body in every session, it’s a holistic practice.

Reflexology is believed to release ‘trapped energy’ – a build-up of emotional stress or feeling unwell, enabling energy to flow more freely through relaxation. Sounds perhaps a little whimsical, but there is a science to this too and plenty of scientific studies.

Relief can be almost immediate, but long-standing conditions may take some time to heal. Each person will react differently, and therefore it is difficult to assess how quickly the body will react to treatment. I recommend having an initial course of 3 treatments up to twice a week, then to listen to your body and book follow up sessions to suit you and your budget.

"I have been seeing Sharon regularly over the last year, initially for reflexology as a means of coping with stress, and more recently for back massage to help with tension, aches and pains in my neck, shoulders and lower back. The reflexology was incredibly relaxing, and I would definitely recommend."

Liz Glaves

" I was looking for a local reflexologist and fortunately found Sharon Cole from Waterlily Therapies.  I cannot recommend Sharon highly enough.  From the first appointment when Sharon discussed treatment options and my existing health condition, I have gone from strength to strength.  I was awaiting a bowel operation and Sharon helped to prepare my body for surgery and has also helped tremendously in the post operative period.

Each reflexology session has left me feeling relaxed and pain free. After not having slept properly for a long time, I have been sleeping much better than ever, have more energy and the will to live life to the full again.  I cannot thank Sharon enough for her hard work and commitment to helping me to recover. I would urge you to give Sharon the opportunity to help you as she helped me.  You won't regret it!"
