Natural Healing, Balance & Relaxation

FOOT REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology can help with reducing the effect stress has on you by putting the body in a state of complete relaxation. In this state, there is a release of muscular tension, nerve function is improved, blood and lymph circulate freely, and overall health and wellbeing improve. Sleep improves with treatment, and it has a calming effect on the whole ‘fight or flight’ stress response.

Many people use Reflexology to help cope with the long term effects of stress. Rather than turning to medication, which can mask symptoms rather than deal with the underlying condition, Reflexology encourages the body to relax and restores natural balance.

Foot Reflexology is a healing technique based on the principle of free and uninterrupted energy flow and helps activate the natural healing processes in each clients body as well as to restore their physical and emotional well-being. As a certified Reflexologist, I help clients reduce their stress and anxiety, balance their energy, manage thier pain, and assist with other health issues.

WHY TRY REFLEXOLOGY?

Reflexology can help with reducing the effect stress has on you by putting the body in a state of complete relaxation. In this state, there is a release of muscular tension, nerve function is improved, blood and lymph circulate freely, and overall health and wellbeing improve. Sleep improves with treatment, and it has a calming effect on the whole ‘fight or flight’ stress response.

Having worked in a high-pressure office environment for over ten years before I trained as a reflexologist, I am very aware of how stress can impact an individual, both physically and emotionally.

People who live with stress and anxiety experience a lot of tension in the upper part of their body - head, neck shoulders - and often suffer from digestive problems.  This impact of stress on the body is why Reflexology is so suitable. Treating the feet is encouraging their energy to flow more freely all-around their body.

Stress can trigger irritability, insomnia, anxiety and depression; it weakens the immune system, which in turn can lead to physical illness. In fact, stress is probably at the root of around 75-80% of the diseases we face today.

Many people use Reflexology to help them cope with the long term effects of stress. Rather than turning to medication, which can mask symptoms rather than deal with the underlying condition, Reflexology encourages the body to relax and restores natural balance.

These symptoms relating to stress and anxiety are there to slow you down.  It’s your body telling you that it’s time for a change or to start doing things differently. It’s time to invest in yourself.  And what better way to do than to book yourself in for some relaxing and calming Reflexology.

THE TREATMENT

Firstly, I talk with my clients and ask a few general health questions.  By listening to them I can get a better understanding of where their energy is blocked or stagnated and needs releasing. I can then give a treatment which is as indiviudal as they are.

It’s a complementary therapy that targets specific reflex points we all have on our feet (as well as face, hands, and ears). By massaging and applying pressure on the feet, reflexologists can stimulate the central nervous system in quite precise ways. Specific points on the feet have been mapped to areas of the body, and the pressure applied to them sends signals to release tension to internal organs and/or specific muscles. We treat the whole body in every session, so it’s a holistic practice.

Reflexology is believed to release ‘trapped energy’ – a build-up of emotional stress or feeling unwell, enabling energy to flow more freely through relaxation. Sounds perhaps a little whimsical, but there is a science to this too and plenty of scientific studies.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE REFLEXOLOGY TREATMENT?

Relief can be almost immediate, but long-standing conditions may take some time to heal. Each person will react differently, and therefore it is difficult to assess how quickly the body will react to treatment. I recommend having an initial course of 3 treatments up to twice a week, then to listen to your body and book follow up sessions to suit you and your budget.

"I have been seeing Sharon regularly over the last year, initially for reflexology as a means of coping with stress, and more recently for back massage to help with tension, aches and pains in my neck, shoulders and lower back. The reflexology was incredibly relaxing, and I would definitely recommend."

Liz Glaves

" I was looking for a local reflexologist and fortunately found Sharon Cole from Waterlily Therapies.  I cannot recommend Sharon highly enough.  From the first appointment when Sharon discussed treatment options and my existing health condition, I have gone from strength to strength.  I was awaiting a bowel operation and Sharon helped to prepare my body for surgery and has also helped tremendously in the post operative period.

Each reflexology session has left me feeling relaxed and pain free. After not having slept properly for a long time, I have been sleeping much better than ever, have more energy and the will to live life to the full again.  I cannot thank Sharon enough for her hard work and commitment to helping me to recover. I would urge you to give Sharon the opportunity to help you as she helped me.  You won't regret it!"
