Foot Reflexology

Natural Healing, Balance and Relaxation

Reflexology is a treatment based on the principle that there are areas and points on the feet, hands, and face that are connected through the nervous system to corresponding parts of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas and points it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels and helps to restore homeostasis balance in the body.

There are approximately 7,000 nerve endings in the human foot and each of them is a reflex point that corresponds to a body part. As a certified Reflexologist using finger and thumb massage techniques to stimulate these specific reflex points, I help my clients reduce their stress and anxiety, balance their energy, manage their pain, and assist with other health issues.

Why try Reflexology?

Having worked in a high-pressure office environment for over ten years before I trained as a reflexologist, I am very aware of how stress can impact an individual, both physically and emotionally.

People who live with stress and anxiety experience a lot of tension in the upper part of their body - head, neck, shoulders - and often suffer from digestive problems.  This impact of stress on the body is why Reflexology is so suitable. Treating the feet is encouraging their energy to flow more freely all-around their body.

Stress can trigger irritability, insomnia, anxiety and depression; it weakens the immune system, which in turn can lead to physical illness. In fact, stress is probably at the root of around 75-80% of the illnesses we face today.

These symptoms relating to stress and anxiety are there to slow you down.  It’s your body telling you that it’s time for a change or to start doing things differently. It’s time to invest in yourself.  And what better way to do than to book yourself in for some relaxing and calming Reflexology.

Reflexology

The Treatment

Firstly, I chat with my clients and ask a few general health questions.  By listening to them I can get a better understanding of where their energy is blocked or stagnated and needs releasing. I can then offer them a treatment which is as individual as they are.

It’s a complementary therapy that targets specific reflex points we all have on our feet (as well as face, hands, and ears). By massaging and applying pressure on the feet, reflexologists can stimulate the central nervous system in quite precise ways. Specific points on the feet have been mapped to areas of the body, and the pressure applied to them sends signals to release tension to internal organs and/or specific muscles. We treat the whole body in every session, so it’s a holistic practice.

Reflexology is believed to release ‘trapped energy’ – a build-up of emotional stress or feeling unwell, enabling energy to flow more freely through relaxation. Sounds perhaps a little whimsical, but there is a science to this too and plenty of scientific studies.

Nicola Sawyer

"I have been seeing Sharon regularly over the last year, initially for reflexology as a means of coping with stress, and more recently for back massage to help with tension, aches and pains in my neck, shoulders and lower back. The reflexology was incredibly relaxing, and I would definitely recommend."

Liz Glaves

" I was looking for a local reflexologist and fortunately found Sharon Cole from Waterlily Therapies.  I cannot recommend Sharon highly enough.  From the first appointment when Sharon discussed treatment options and my existing health condition, I have gone from strength to strength.  I was awaiting a bowel operation and Sharon helped to prepare my body for surgery and has also helped tremendously in the post operative period.

Each reflexology session has left me feeling relaxed and pain free. After not having slept properly for a long time, I have been sleeping much better than ever, have more energy and the will to live life to the full again.  I cannot thank Sharon enough for her hard work and commitment to helping me to recover. I would urge you to give Sharon the opportunity to help you as she helped me.  You won't regret it!"
